WPA: Credibility, Clout, and Fun
By Valerie M. Constance
Longtime members of Women Progressive Activists (WPA) remember meeting in June Rusten's living room after the Supreme Court selected George W. Bush as President of the United States in the year 2000. We expressed our frustration and sense of helplessness over the seeming demise of our democracy. Six years later, I'm proud to say that WPA has emerged as a community leader in setting the truth free by speaking out on issues of social justice. We have persistently voiced dissent since the beginning, and we have gained credibility in the community and among local elected leaders. We did this, as the late Mary Rave would have said, "while still managing to have fun."

Both documents deal with key problems and issues regarding election administration in Michigan.
