BALLOT INITIATIVES
NO on Proposal 2, the so-called "Civil Rights Initiative"
WPA urges you to vote NO on Proposal 2. This misguided ballot question goes by the unlikely name "Civil Rights Initiative" and proposes eliminating affirmative action. Vote No on 2 and defend affirmative action programs that provide opportunities for women and minorities for better jobs and education. We are a proud member of the coalition opposing this effort. See www.oneunitedmichigan.org for more information.
NO on the proposed "StopOverSpending" Amendment
WPA urges you to vote NO on the proposed "StopOverSpending" or SOS amendment. According to defendmichigan.org, a small group of Michigan anti-government organizations, "[f]unded largely by special interests from other states," is trying to put the proposed "SOS" constitutional amendment on the November ballot. Colorado passed a similar amendment, and is now frantically backpedaling to repair the damage done to their state budget. See defendmichigan.org for more information.
